My working process is iterative. Any project needs to be a blend of research, process, inspiration and experimentation. Not for me; the inspiration is the building block.
Without it, any project can look “good” but it will never be “great”.
If inspiration is the building block, then experimentation is the sculpting tool. The point at which the original idea is enhanced with
experimentation is how a lot of my successful designs take shape.
They say variety is the spice of life. You can’t get much more varied
than a British ecologist retraining as a graphic designer in
New Zealand. Hi I’m Stuart.
Delicate, curvilinear, flowery… are just some of the words you wouldn’t use to describe my work. Much of the work I produce is utilitarian, embracing bold, contrasting colourswith structured typography. To be honest, I have always been a bit eclectic and love to produce mixed media pieces, incorporating new ideas and where possible new technologies. Imagery forms an important part of my designs and saves having to explain too much by formatting type.
